Born Akwasi Boadi, popular Actor, Comedian and TV Presenter “Akrobeto” who was born on 18th November, 1962 recently turning 60.
Having featured in several Kumawood movies and often teased by the size of his nose, Akrobeto was born in Akyem Ayirebi in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
He had his basic education at Akyem Ayerebi L/A primary and middle school and completed in the year 1979. Even though he could not pass his middle school education examination, and could not further his education, his love for comedy and acting made him popular and loved in his community.Â
At age 18, Akrobeto left his hometown to Accra with Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo of Kristo Asafo Band, when the band visited Akyem Ayerebi to perform their usual concert party in the town.
He remained with the Kristo Asafo band and performed in several other productions to include the popular Keysoap Concert Party which aired on Saturday evenings on Ghana Television (GTV) alongside Bob Okala, late Nkomode, Mercy Asiedu, Agya Koo, Kumiwaa amongst others.
In 2008, he returned from Belgium after he left the shores of Ghana and has featured in several Kumawood movies such as Away Bus, Sika Mp3 Rough, Sumena So Adie, Hwe Wano Asem Yie, Ma Yenfa To Woso, Akrobeto Taxi Driver and many others.
Akrobeto is the current host of “The Real News” a satirical news reading show on Ghana’s United Television (UTV) every Friday evening.
Clips of him reading sport news in an exaggerated and comical manner on the said show “The Real News” went viral across the globe with media outlets and footballers in Europe sharing his clips on their platform.
He emerged as the overall Entertainment Personality of the Year at the Entertainment Achievement Awards in March 2021, organized by Citi TV.
Akrobeto is married and has 3 sons.
