Nearly 200,000 Have Signed The Petition Launched By France To Replay The 2022 FIFA World Cup Final

Over 210,000 French fans have signed an online petition calling for the World Cup final to be replayed, owing to what they see as mistakes by the referee.

Sunday’s centrepiece saw Argentina win on penalties against France after a thrilling 3-3 draw in Qatar. Some considered it to be a showcase of some of the best football that the sport has to offer.

However, a number of seething fans of the losing side have put their name to MesOpinions, an online petition website, saying that the match must be replayed because they think the referee was conned twice for Argentina goals.

After Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, some people, largely in France, signed a petition calling for a rematch of the final. A couple of hundred thousand people, mainly in France, want the final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup between Argentina and France to be replayed

Last Sunday’s World Cup final ended in dramatic fashion as Argentina claimed a penalty shootout victory over France.

Argentina went into the break two goals up following strikes from Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria. France left it late to send the match into extra-time as Kylian Mbappe scored a quick-fire brace, netting in the 80th and 81st minute.

The South American country regained the lead through Messi, with Mbappe cancelling out his goal two minutes from time.
