Former Big Brother Naija ‘shine ya eyes’ housemate, Maria Chike Benjamin has a message for Nigerians as they celebrate Christmas.
Maria questioned why Nigerians are fond of putting boxes and present under Christmas trees. She explained that Santa leaves the North Pole on the 24th to deliver Christmas presents.
Maria told them to understand the spirit of Christmas and stop imitating others.
“Why am I seeing gift boxes and present under y’all Christmas trees??
Did you forgot Santa leaves the North Pole on the 24th and down your roof/chimney to drop off the presents? Y’all so funny. Understand the spirit of Christmas, just don’t do it cause others are”.
Daddy Freeze tackles Christians for celebrating Christmas
Last year, while some were celebrating and making merry to mark the birthday of Jesus Christ, others argued that December 25 had nothing to do with Christ’s birthday.
For controversial Nigerian On Air Personality Daddy Freeze, Christmas has nothing to do with Christ, however those celebrating should go ahead and enjoy their end of the year fun.
“The son of an European god was born today and they declared it a Holiday. So, we true Christians wish the rest of you Happy Holidays,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
Daddy Freeze chose to explain further, “Hello everyone, as you party hard and eat plenty rice today, remember that although no one is stopping you from having your well deserved end of year fun, this fun has NOTHING to do with Christ!-1: Christ wasn’t born on the 25th December.
2: There is nowhere in scripture, from Genesis to revelation where followers of God; Christians or Jews celebrated birthdays. However, there are two clear scriptural instances of pagans celebrating birthdays, Pharaoh’s in Genesis 40:20 and Herod’s in Matthew 14:6-12. Read more here.
