Asante Kotoko Topple Hearts of Oak From Second Spot

Asante Kotoko came from a goal down to beat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 at Baba Yara Stadium in week nine of the Ghana Premier League.

The win takes the Porcupine Warriors into second place on the league table with 17 points, one above rivals, Hearts of Oak who lie second with 16 points from nine games.

Asante Kotoko have been on and off as far the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League is concerned but they look to have regained their mojo.

Their performance in the CAF Champions League was not the best after winning the Ghana Premier League last season.

The defeated Burkina Faso club, Rail Club de Kadiogo by 1-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League in Bénin.

Asante Kotoko needed just any form of draw or a win to progress to the next stage of the competition but they faltered.

The second game ended in a 1-0 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium and Asante Kotoko lost to Rail Club de Kadiogo through the penalty shootouts.

In the other games, Karela United and Medeama ended 1-1, Kotoku Royals 3-0 at home to Legon Cities and Dreams put two goals past King Faisal who failed to reply any.
