The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana yesterday[December 17] bids farewell to her mother, Mrs. Beatrice Appiah, who died recently at age 80 following a short illness.
The funeral service which was followed by a private burial took place at the Methodist School park at Asokore in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Vice President, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, Education Minister, as well as prominent chiefs in the Western and Ashanti regions were among scores of mourners who joined the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and her siblings to mourn and to bid farewell to her old lady.
Mrs Beatrice Appiah, known otherwise as Abena Anima, was an educationist and during her life married the late Rev. J. A. Appiah and was blessed with four children with Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the eldest.
Professor Nana Aba who was appointed first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana in 2021 in a speech during her induction ceremony described her late mother as a role model, a teacher and an amazing woman full of strength.
