Ghana just commence the biggest project in its petroleum sector. A 98 million Oil and Gas Service Terminal at the Takoradi Port in the Western Region of Ghana. This innovative project will significantly shape Ghana’s oil and gas sector into a massive revenue-generating machine. Which is fully capable of competing with other international giants as well as making the nation a hotspot in Africa for foreign investments. So stick to this article to the end to know more about the stepping stone project in the petroleum and gas sector. That will not only spell massive economic growth and rapid acceleration but would also structure the oil and gas dealings after it is realized.
The government has cut the soil for work to commence on the construction of a massive 98 million-dollar modern Oil and Gas Service Terminal within the Takoradi port. This gigantic investment would single-handedly reform and acts of the country’s aim to strategically develop the Takoradi Port and the Western Region as an important catalyst for the nation’s petroleum oil and natural gas services. This monumental project was inaugurated on the 9th of December 2022 by Ghanaian president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a ceremony hosted at the Takoradi Port. The project is said to be completed in a record time of 670 days that is by September 6, 2024. Upon its completion, this remarkable project would completely revitalize and revolutionalize the petroleum sector by providing a full-fledged terminal that could show most of the nation’s delicate oil and gas shipping and storage activities.Â
It would also accommodate oil and gas service providers, fabrication companies, exploration partners, and their supplies for its massive school. This innovative terminal will come with 21 hectares of service terminal area and 550 meters of primary quay wall facility. The quay area will provide 10 meters of water depth at beds and 40 meters square apron for terminal operations. This is a sizeable and marvelous achievement for the country.Â
According to the president, this ultra-modern project will completely enhance cargo handling capacity, maintenance, and repairs of ships and also meet the demands and recalls of the oil and gas service sector within the Takoradi Port enclave. He indicated that this incredible project coupled with an upcoming 137 million dollar floating dry ball terminal will completely and strategically reform the nation’s oil and gas sector and hand the nation massive leverage over many other nations competing in the space for years to come.Â
It’s obvious that the objective of this expansion and transformation of the Takoradi Ports by the government is to help boost the Ghanaian economy while boosting the Western Regional trade and significance. With these efforts to boost the economy is still unbelievable how Ghana has taken such a massive step to improve maritime trade in Takoradi Port which will position the region as a major economic growth engine.Â
The Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko also supports the notion that these projects will immensely propel economic activities at the Port. Adding to the several benefits these projects will offer the nation. He said all these projects will create more sustainable jobs for much unemployed youth in the region as well as the country at large. Such a massive project is what Ghana needs if the nation plans on becoming fully capable of producing its oil and gas locally as well as attempts to dip its stool in the oil and gas exportation. This is great news for the country as Ghana has been overly dependent on other countries for its oil and gas needs.Â
