Chieftaincy Unrest: 6 Arrested, 4 Butchered In Eastern Region

Chieftaincy issues have been one of the concerns in the nation and currently 6 people are reportedly arrested while 4 others have sustained degrees of injuries with machetes.

Residents and natives of Akyem Awenare in the Atiwa West District of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area in the eastern region are living in fear and panic as two clans clash after judgment on who is the rightful owner of the Awenare stool.

After the judgment, the reigning chief is asked to vacate the stool for a new family to occupy and that did not go well with them.

There was therefore mixed reactions in the community even as scores of residents had to find solace in bushes to avoid gunshots and machete wounds.

The Eastern South regional police command together with Kwabeng Police went to the scene to ensure instill peace and harmony.

However, 6 people have been arrested and are at the police custody while 4 sustained machete wounds.
