“We Will Not Underestimate Any Team in Our Group” – Former Hearts Goalkeeper

Rivers United goalkeeper, Seidu Mutawakilu says they will not underestimate any opponent in their 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup group.

United have been paired in group B against Ivory Coast club, Asec Mimosas, Diables Noirs and DC Motema Pembe of Congo and Congo DR respectively.

Seidu, who once kept for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko’s junior side, spent years at Enugu Rangers before signing for Rivers United, spoke exclusively to Radio Gold Sports.

“Our chance in this group is very open and I believe our home ground is a slaughter ground so we will take advantage of it and win all our home games and try our best to get away results to.

“So that we can get at least between 10 and 13 points from the group and I believe if we get these kind of points, qualifying for the quarter finals will be very easy.

“We worked very hard and we made to the group stage so through the will of God, working hard and discipline, I believe we can qualify from this group.

“We will respect every team in this group and we will approach every game as a final because any match is very important.

“Every point you pick in your home games and away games will help you qualify for the quarter finals so we will do our best to make ourselves and the club proud.” Seidu Mutawakilu told Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Sports.

The group games will start in February through to April 2023.
