North Gonja: Five Communities Connected To National Grid

Five Communities in the North Gonja District of the Savanna region, over the weekend, were connected to the national grid, bringing an end to decades of untold hardship brought on the communities by the lack of electricity.

The connection of Tiembang, Somun, Nabengu, Salugu and Tusungu to the national grid means fifteen communities have now been hooked to electricity since 2017 with 14 more at various stages and will be ready for commissioning soon.

The District Chief Executive for North Gonja, Hon. Adam Eliasu, who led various ceremonies along side the MP for Daboya/Mankarigu, Hon. Alhaji Asei Seini, said the extension of electricity to several communities in the area was enough proof that government is committed to transforming the lives of the people.

The DCE expressed satisfaction at the work done by the contractors. He also disclosed that his plans was to increase electricity coverage in the district to hundred percent by close of 2024. On his part, Hon. Asei Seini, commemded the DCE for his industrious and hardworking efforts aimed at distributing development across the length and breadth of the area.
