MCE Expresses Gratitude To GKMA Team For Showing Commitment To Health Issues.

The Chief Executive of the Ejisu Municipality , Hon.Samuel Oduro Frimpong has lauded the hardworking team of the Greater Accra/Kumasi Metropolitan Assemblies who have been tasked to provide toilet facilities to some selected District Assemblies in both Accra and Kumasi respectively.

GAMA/GKMA one house one toilet facility concept is an initiative of the Ministry of Water & Natural Resources and it is funded by the World Bank.

According to the Municipality Chief Executive who was speaking at the World Toilet Day program at Ejisu, GKMA has provided over 1,000 homes in the Ejisu Municipality with toilets under its sanitation project.

Hon. Samuel Oduro Frimpong described the impact of the toilet facilities as beneficial to the citizens as the team used only one year to chalk that success.

The Mce emphasized that issues of sanitation and toilet in the Ejisu Municipality, Ashanti region and for that Ghana in general cannot be underestimated since cleanliness is next to Godliness.

The MCE described the one house one toilet project as a laudable policy that have been introduced at the right time to curb diseases in the society.

He said it is also timely since it has significantly helped to reduce open defecation in the beneficiary communities in the Ejisu municipality.

I must to admit that the introduction of the one house one toilet facility concept has come at the most appropriate time, Hon Frimpong pointed out.

Unable to hide his feelings the Mce said just a period of twelve months that GKMA çonstructed over 1,000 toilets within the Ejisu municipality alone, the outfit was also able to construct 4,000 toilet facilities across eight participating assemblies in the Greater Kumasi Area.

He on this note expressed his further gratitude to the Minister of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah for extending the GAMA project to the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area (GKMA).

I am grateful to the Ministry and the Honorable Minster, Cecilia Abena Dapaah for extending the Sanitation and Water project to the Ashanti Region, the Mce quipped.

Adding that the Ejisu Municipality is one of the most beneficiary areas who leads in the construction of the household toilet facilities in the Ashanti region.

Hon. Sammuel Frimpong also lauded the organizers of the World Toilet Day for choosing “Sanitization And Ground Water: resonates well with climate change,” indicating that the theme was most appropriate

In another development, this portal gathered that as part of measures to improve their services, GAMA has planned to organize a special four days program in Accra to review its activities for the year.

The program is scheduled to take off from November 8th to 11th 2022 in the Greater Accra Region.

Ing George Asiedu, the Project Coordinator of the GAMA/GKMA told this correspondent that as a tradition of his outfit, the sector engages with its media partners annually to review its performances.

The agenda is aimed at discussing issues that could help the sector to work up to satisfaction, Ing Asiedu concluded.
