The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), leapfrogged 13 other public universities in Ghana, to cement its position at the summit of the medal table for the recently ended 27th edition of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games.Â
The games was hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
The 18-day games offered opportunity to students to develop their talents in sporting disciplines football, athletics, volleyball, hockey, handball; basketball; netball; goalball; badminton; table tennis; tennis, beach volleyball among others.
UEW had a total of 61 medals, 22 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze medals respectively and was Crowned the overall Best University in the 27th Edition of GUSA Games with a total of ten [10] trophies. It was a memorable tournament by all standards as all the Universities displayed a great deal of professionalism and ethics. It remains to be seen the next competition next year.
