My Open Letter to Black Stars After Observing Senegal’s Match

I watched the match keenly and noticed Senegal was fantastic considering the fact that Natherlands is ranked higher in the world stage compared with Senegal.

On the 84th Minute, Senegal was thrown to a shock after Gakpo of the Natherlands side headed a flying ball Into the back of the net, outsmarting Senegal’s Mendy in the air. In Extra time, Natherlands doubled their lead almost close to the end of the game after Mendy pointed a ball away from the posts.

There are several things the game communicated to me as a critical Ghanaian in football. These can be translated in the case of the Black Stars.

Firstly, Settling for a draw maybe good for a low ranked team Against a high rank team but a draw is never the wish of a high ranked team, high ranked teams will only settle for a draw when their plans are exhausted. Last minutes are dangerous but I’m optimistic the coach has noticed that, last minutes costed us a lot during the African Cup of Nations, we saw Gabon Equalizing during the dieing minutes.

Secondly, be watchful on Substitutes of the Opponents, when there is a substitute coming inn, be sure the coach wants to execute a plan, put an eye on him when he is around the 18 yard box, this will play a key role in ensuring mistakes aren’t made in any form.

Thirdly, Be careful with how you respect big names in the Opponents team, that can cost you a lot, as a player your target should be to make a name from using big players, imagine stopping a striker like Ronaldo as a defender, that’s a plus to you and your career than giving Such a person unnecessary Respect and admiration in the field of play, you can exchange pleasantries after the match but not like what Fatawu Dauda did during our game against Portugal in 2014, too much respect towards a senior player can destroy you.

Fourthly, Ghanaians and other Africans should desist from ridicule and saying unpleasant words towards other teams that didn’t qualify, it doesn’t speak well of us,a divided continent cannot win matches, we need to advice ourselves and say positive things to each Other to be able to reach our goals, trolling each other on Social Media and using foul words isn’t the way to go, I’ll also use the opportunity to urge Ghanaians not to say negative things on radio, in groups and online about the National team, we should instead think of positive ways to solve Ghana’s football challenges with ideas or research.
