Selling The Saglemi Housing Unit Does Not Make Sense – NPP MAN Tells Asenso-Boakye

A communications team member of the New Patriotic Party, Kafui Amegah has criticized the Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye over the alleged selling of the Saglemi affordable housing project.

Kafui Amegah asserted that it does not make sense for the government to sell the Saglemi housing project and then invest the proceeds into another housing project.

“The Works and Housing Minister should not joke with Ghanaians. The Minister and his advisors should put off the idea because it does not make sense. The government should find money to complete the project and not take Ghanaians for granted.”

According to him, selling the Saglemi housing unit is not advisable, and it hurts him that this is happening. He asks why over 1,500 housing units built with taxpayers’ money get sold because there is no money to complete it.

“Does the private person have more money than the government?” he quizzed on Original FM.

He mentioned that people in the NPP do not consent to the decision to privatize the Saglemi project and told the Minister to knock it off.

“There are many security agencies in Ghana, like Police, Prisons whose personnel do not have any place to stay, so why don’t you give them a place to stay?”

He suggested that instead of the government selling off the Saglemi housing project, it should cut down expenses in running ministries and departments, slash government expenditures, and use those monies to complete the project.
