Explaining his intentions to transform Barekese a capital town of the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region through development projects, the chief of the town, Nana Amoapem Brenya I cited education as one of his topmost priorities for his people.
This is because he consider education as a source of national development and a key that leads to civilization.
Nana Brenya I made the statement on Sunday November 13 2022 at his Barekese palace to mark the Akwasidae event.
Nana observed that the secret of economic development development depends on education hence he is following the footsteps of Asantehene’s educational policies to transform Barekese.
He contended that upon his enthronement he though came to meet Kindergarten outfits, basic schools, Senior High School and Nursing Training College at Barekese, he still owed it as a duty to expand the educational base in the town to benefit all.
The chief intimated that it is against this background hence he is embarking on an ultra modern community library complex for the town.
The project he said is awaiting for commission as soon the contractors hand it over to him.
Currently the down floor of the project is housing Kindergarten kids, the chief hinted.
There was a thunderous applause when Nana Brenya I informed the milling crowd at the palace that with the help of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II he has been able to sign an agreement with the authorities of the Legon University to establish a branch campus at Barekese.
Barekesehene took the opportunity to highlight other archievements that he had scored for the since his three years on the throne at Barekese.
He mentioned the role he played to ensure the establishment of the District Assembly offices at Barekese, the District police station project and the lobbying for the ongoing Agenda 111 project at BarekeseÂ
Nana Amoapem Brenya I also mentioned the role he played that helped convinced government to have accepted to build a District court along with bungalows of judges at Barekese.
Having throw light about what he termed them as ‘few projects’, Barekesehene said it was not the time he was expected to give details about his archievements.
But he finds it prudent to tell the people of Barekese that he is in as a chief of Barekese to purposely promote peace, unity and development for the town.
And the need for the people to rally behind him to realize his aim.
Nana Brenya I also took the opportunity to thank God and prayed for Otumfuo for longer life.
He also prayed for his subjects and the entire town for the blessings of God, strength, unity and peace as he rules the town.
Stay tuned.
