Fans of Manchester United will come together on the 13th of November to support their team as they face Fulham for their last Premier League game before the domestic season breaks for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
As majority of the players have been named for their respective National teams this week, Erik ten Hang says the tournament in Qatar will not influence his team selection and that full attention is on the vital clash with the Cottagers.
“I think the players are all aware of the importance of the game against Fulham. I will not take the World Cup in that regard.
“We play the best team – until Sunday, it is the interest of Manchester United and only the interest of Manchester United,” he said.
According to him, Diogo Dalot can begin his preparations for Portugal’s participation early. The United right-back will miss the trip to London as he is serving a one-match Premier League ban for picking up five bookings this season.
His compatriot Bruno Fernandes returned for selection– he missed Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa for the same reason, but was back to play a starring role as they gained revenge over Unai Emery’s side on Thursday night.
The third Red picked in Portugal’s squad is Cristiano Ronaldo who was absent against Villa due to illness, although he could be back for action on Sunday
“I can’t guarantee that Cristiano will be available now, since he was ill, he can recover from that, it’s not really a serious illness that takes days or weeks, so I think it’s possible that he is available for Sunday and he will be in the squad.”
On the sidelines, Manager Erik ten Hag said the fitness of Anthony Martial and his ability to start two games in four days, will be resolved after their training session at Carrington.
“Anthony Martial played his first minutes from the start after Everton, so we have to see how he recovers. So we have some issues and some questions to see how we line up and what plan we take.”
For Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a mixture of illness and injury has limited his contribution, hence his not being active since the August clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
“Some injuries, some illnesses, so he was also often not available, but he doesn’t have a real big problem. It’s about him getting really fit and to compete with Diogo for the second half of the season’ he added.
Jadon Sancho has also been absent from the squad this month.
