Chelsea suffered yet another loss in their campaign as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup competition after losing to Manchester City.
The West London club missed out on the Carabao Cup trophy last season after losing on penalties to Liverpool. This season, Chelsea could not make it past the fourth round stage after a sublime freekick from Mahrez and a follow up by Julian Alvarez were enough to see Manchester City win the tie by 2 goals to nil.
Chelsea are yet to win against top teams in the EPL this season with their best result being the 2-2 draw against Tottenham during the reign of Thomas Tuchel. Since then Chelsea have lost to Arsenal and Manchester City while drawing with Manchester United.
Chelsea will face Newcastle on Saturday before going on break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The London club will hope to turn results as a win will see them back in the contention for the top 4.
