Argentina star player injured with just 11 days to world cup.

For Hockey lovers, Basketball fans and even the automobile racing fans, 1986 is a long time ago but for football fans, Argentina and Diego Armando Maradona’s euphoric run to gold in the 1986 world cup, will always seem like yesterday. Yes! Maradona who asserted his legendary status with sheer skill and utter professionalism, propelled Argentina to the final in style despite his controversial “hand of God goal” (which is a story for another day). Despite having flashes of brilliance during the 1982 world cup, it was during the 1986 FIFA world cup tournament that Argentina confirmed it’s place as one of the greatest footballing nations of the world.

Unfortunately, 36 years has passed since that magnificent show of class by the Argentine national football team and sadly, no other Argentina team has been able to replicate what Maradona’s Argentina did in Mexico 1986. In 2014, a struggling Argentina team led by Lioness Andres Messi, fought their way to the final of the world cup only to be defeated by the Machine of Germany. It is safe to say that the people of Argentina and supporters of the Argentine national team have suffered for a very long time while waiting for the world cup trophy.

The appointment of the Argentine national team’s current manager, Lionel Scaloni, brought some change to the Argentine dressing room. With the players now displaying some level of unity and a consequent sense of urgency on the field, Argentina is once again showing the world why they are one of the greatest footballing nations on the face of the planet earth. After convincingly wining the Copa America 2021 trophy in Brazil, the Argentina national team continues to trash opponents in fearful fashion as if to warn the next opponent of their impending doom.

Aside Lionel Messi who has as a matter of fact been phenomenal for the team, a few other players have been instrumental for Argentina’s recent form. Rodrygo De Paul, Angel Di Maria and Giovani Lo Celso have all been instrumental for the teams recent success. In 2018, Giovani Lo Celso made his world cup debut for the Argentina squad and helped the team to the final of the tournament. He helped the team to the Final of the 2019 Copa America and also helped the team to win the 2021 Copa America trophy. During the Finalissima against Italy on the 1st of June 2022, Lo Celso was instrumental for Argentina’s 3:0 win.

Lo Celso has therefore become a very important player for the Argentina national team and it is for this reason that the people of Argentina and all other supporters of the Argentina national team are currently in utter disbelief over the news of the players injury. It is now official that Giovani Lo Celso who is currently scheduled for surgery to heal a hamstring injury, will not be making Argentina’s world cup squad and football fans just can not keep their calm.

Who will partner De Paul to keep the Engine room of the Argentine team alive? Does Argentina still stand the chance of walking away from Qatar as the victors of the tournament? How will the story end? These and more are the questions football fans around the world are asking. Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
