Illegal mining has a devastating effect on the economy and the fight against it has intensified in recent times. However, all efforts to put a stop to the menace have proven futile and those who are bent on resisting this illicit act are gradually losing faith.
One such noble figure was the former minister of lands and natural resources, Mr. Peter Amewu who has been reassigned to a different ministry. The gentleman with every fiber of his being tried to curb the menace but wasn’t successful.
Captain, this morning opined that the reason why the then minister was unsuccessful was that dignitaries of this government were complicit with the activities of galamseyers. He attributed the failure of Mr. Amewu to members of his party who are financiers of the ruling party.
Speaking this morning on Onua Tv during the editorial segment, the journalist indicated that there is a grand scheme to have the minister who also doubles as a member of Parliament for the good people of Hohoe in the Volta region lose his seat.
According to the broadcaster, this is all orchestrated by the government since the minister isn’t corrupt and had wanted to stop galamsey which is destroying our water bodies. This is also the reason he has transferred to head the Railway ministry.
“You are losing 2024. There is a scheme devised against you since you decided to fight illegal mining,” he concluded.
