2023 Budget: Gov’t will consider GMA’s call to enhance living condition – Manhyia North Lawmaker

Akwasi Konadu, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has stated that the NPP government will include the Ghana Medical Association’s (GMA) concerns in the country’s 2023 budget.

His comments is in relation to the GMA warning that if the government did not rethink the service conditions of its members, a rising number of doctors would seek to work abroad.

The President of the GMA, Dr Frank Serebour, stated at the 64th Annual General Conference of the Association in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region that the purpose of the notice is to assist healthcare workers in dealing with the country’s financial distress as the living expenses rises.

In an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Manhyia North MP pleaded with the medical association to offer the government some time to make the required regulations to enhance their services conditions.

The Manhyia North legislator, on the other hand, believes that the situation of the Medical Service should be examined by listening to them, as this is the only way for the government and the association to reach a compromise solution.

Akwasi Konadu acknowledged that the country is currently in tough moments, but he believes that the situation will improve as the government works around the clock to restore order.

“Indeed we are in difficult times but certainly there are brighter days ahead and things will get better in the coming days” he stated.

“We will plead with our brothers and sisters not to leave the country as the government is making provisions to meet their demands in working” he added.
