Residents arrested and handed over a 50-year-old woman to police for allegedly stealing a 2-year-old baby into a margarine bucket at Mankessim in the Central Region’s Mfantseman Municipality.
According to Journalist on Friday, November 4, 2022, the woman was found sitting on a margarine bucket behind the little girl’s house.
Residents became suspicious of her because the report indicated she was unknown in the area. They tried talking to her but refused to comply.
“We tried asking her questions, but she insisted on not talking to us; we purposefully ignored the suspect while watching her movements,” the residents stated. The woman snatched a two-year-old daughter who was playing and squeezing her into the bucket.
Because the residents were suspicious, she was pursued the moment she started moving with the baby on her head.
When she realized she was being followed, she dropped the bucket and fled for her life.
She was fleeing when she fell into a ditch and was seized by the locals.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother, Janet Ampah, who is breastfeeding a two-month-old infant, claims she was feeding the baby while the two-year-old was playing. She heard an alert and brought her two-month-old baby to investigate, only to discover that her two-year-old daughter had been taken.
The suspect was afterwards turned over to Mankessim Division police for further investigation.
