Social media has become a playground for a lot of Ghanaians. Some Ghanaians make good use of the platform while others also have been abusing the platform in diverse ways.

Dr. Lawrence Tetteh pointed out that most people have not been using social media to educate others but are using it to destroy the community, their generation, and Ghana as a whole. According to Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, social media has a great benefit that most youths can use to educate, improve and develop themselves.

“………A lot of people have made comments loosely and unguarded and it is destroying our community. So have we used Social Media to undermine the hard-won reputation of certain individuals” he said.
‘Most people sit at home and they don’t realize the implications of what they do”.

Dr. Tetteh said social media is breeding criminality, promoting cybercrime and falsehood, and therefore appealed to the Police to create a system that can purge and clean up the community of the ‘junk’.

“I think the Police should go beyond just haunting certain individuals and create a platform that our cyber system can work very well so that we cleanse our community of the junk that happens through social media,” Dr. Lawrence Tetteh said this on the ‘Headline’ segment of the GTV Breakfast Show today, 3rd November, 2022.
