Nigerian singer, Davido lost his 3-year-old son in a drowning tragedy at their Banana Island home, some four years after he consoled, fellow Nigerian singer, D’banj after his son also drowned in a pool in their home.
Ifeanyi Adeleke’s death in a swimming pool Monday nightmares a few days after the celebration of his third birthday on October 20.
He was said to have been under the water for a long time before he was discovered and rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of Lagos State, where he was confirmed dead.
Reports also indicate that Davido and the boy’s mother, Chioma were away on an outing, while the boy was left in the care of his minders when the unfortunate incident took place.
Davido, in June 2018 offered his condolences to D’banj while receiving his BET Award for Best International Act.
CNN reported at the time, that D’banj was also attending the BET Awards in Los Angeles when news broke of his 1-year-old son’s death at their home in the Ikoyi suburb of Lagos.
I couldn’t help putting the two stories because of the striking similarities in the deaths. Both toddlers of popular Nigerian singers, dying in swimming pools while in the care, supposedly of child-minders.
