A lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo has revealed that he is highly elated that, Prof Mike Oquaye has commended him for his analysis on TV3.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Saturday, 29th October 2022, he wrote;
“I receive encouragements but this one is very important to me because it’s coming from the former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye, the man who taught me Political Science at the undergraduate level, supervised my thesis, and supervised my work at the IEA.Â
I am elated because though I spent most of the time criticizing his party and government on tv this morning, he still finds it important to commend me. Why? It’s simple. I just decided to appreciate the circumstances that made the MPs do their U-Turn, before offering my critique of their decision. “
Prof Gyampo advised that we must learn to analyze. We must not be stomach-directioned. The art of balancing argument doesn’t come cheap. It is not for the emotionally-minded and overly partisan. It is the only means through which one can offer damning criticism and yet receive acceptance from the one being criticized.
Prof Mike Oquaye is a Ghanaian barrister and politician who served as the sixth Speaker of Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana from 2017 to 2021 under the ticket of NPP.
