Media General is turning out to be one of the most vilified media houses in Ghana. This isn’t surprising because political parties in power always see something wrong with media houses that speak against them. Same thing for the opposition party that will always show signs of fear for the Electoral Commission. The ruling NPP have for some time been on the necks of Media General’s TV3 and Onua TV. The party argues that so much unfounded allegations and untruth have been peddled using that medium.
On TV3’s The Big Issue today, Thursday, October 27, 2022, Kweku Hagan-Ricketts bemoaned the number of things the government headed by President Akufo-Addo, Bawumia and Ken Ofori Atta could have done differently. This view was debunked by Michael Okyere Baafi, MP for New Juaben South and deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. According to Mr. Baafi, he feels appalled that all the NDC do is to apportion blames and not give solutions.
This view was rejected by the host, Roland Walker who insisted that he has heard the NDC give some solutions. He stated how John Mahama for instance was one of the first to call the government to go to the IMF. He added that he also knows that the NDC have called for a cut on the number of ministers and salary slash for some government officials.
This statement and defense from Roland didn’t please Mr. Baafi who insisted that Roland keep defending the NDC. Mr. Okyere Baafi boldly stated that the things that the NDC mentioned are issues that are common sense and not necessarily solutions to Ghana’s problems. He called on Roland to stop aiding the NDC because the party has not provided any solutions to revive Ghana’s economy. Rather he said all the NDC does is to rant and demoralize Ghanaians on how the economy will collapse.
