What Is Sleeping Sickness Disease?

Sleeping sickness is a disease that attacks the brain and leaves someone in a statue like condition that is speechless and motionless as well. This disease is mostly found in adults and people who normally live close to areas lots of trees.

The sleeping sickness disease was discovered in the world between 1916 and 1926, the disease spreads fast infecting over 1 million people and directly causing over 500,000 deaths to people all over the world.

The sleeping sickness disease is commonly found on the African continent, the disease is caused by an insect called trypanosomiasis which is a vector borne parasitic disease.

It is caused by infection with protozoan parasites belonging to the genus Trypanosoma.
