The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey has debunked claims by actress, Salma Mumin that they once had an encounter at Ghana Most Beautiful auditions years back.
Salma Mumin had said on UTV that although she had the chance to compete for Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, she was unsuccessful.
Salma claimed that even though the show’s well-known judge, Mark Okraku Mantey, treated her poorly, she didn’t give up on her aspirations. Salma Mumin revealed these details to the United panel.
The panel was debating the response of Ghanaian musician Abiana to one of the up-and-coming performers who attended the Greater Accra TV3 Mentor auditions.
“Mark Okraku auditioned as my judge at Ghana’s Most Beautiful auditions. I have been to a lot of auditions in my life.
The year that Chaanna won, I couldn’t make it to the semi-final auditions because I could speak the local dialogue which is the Wale. But now I gave say proverbs in my local dialect. To go through what he did wasn’t so cool. I have had encounters with Mark Okraku as a judge.
He was really arrogant towards me and I was so scared. So I went out of the audition room and people started asking about me, I kept going about him that there is this guy in there who is not nice at all.
Even if I didn’t perform well, I won’t say it. I was upset about it. Just imagine how the boy will feel. I don’t think it is a great feeling. I know how what the boy went through at the TV3 Mentor auditions he did wasn’t so cool and to think the young boy starting a career had to go through this?
However, in a new development, Mark Okraku Mantey has denied accusations by Salma Mumin that he was a judge at GMB and was rude to her as he confirmed to that he was never a judge at the said pageant or any other pageant show.
“I haver never been a judge on Ghana Most Beautiful before and I have never been a judge on any beauty pageant or any beauty pageant auditions”, Mark told .
We are, however, yet to see a response from Salma Mumin on this accusation.
