Biologically, the age range in which women have the highest chance of conceiving and the healthiest age range for the children tends to overlap.
Mothers in the age range of 18-19, generally see healthy babies. Infants tend to weigh slightly less than the normal range, but not significantly, and are otherwise perfectly fine. The main problem is the potential damage to the mother, as at this age range we begin to see a stunt in growth and development in the mother, who would usually continue to develop a few neurological and musculoskeletal systems until the age of 22 to 23. This is less of a problem for mothers who are taller and more developed for their age. Also, the risk of potential complications towards the mother increases slightly in this age range, but once again, not significantly.
Mothers aged 20 to 26 are considered to be in the best years to conceive and such age ranges are generally associated with the healthiest new borns, with the lowest risk to the mother.
Ages 27-29 is not a bad time either, with babies usually being born healthy, but we do generally begin to see a minor decrease in the fertility of women.
Ages 30-35, the amount of children born with neurological or learning disorders such as ADHD, GAD, or be diagnosed on the Autisim spectrum, begins to increase in this age range. Potential health complications towards the mother increases, but is not generally seen as a significant problem. However, the chances of conceiving decreases by some 33% from when they were in their 20′s.
Ages 36-39, prematurely born babies, in addition to more infants being born with disorders such as Down Syndrome and Austism, begins to increase. This may also lead to lung development problems down the line, potentially increasing the chances of the child developing Asthma. Risk to the mother begins to seriously increase, but still be in the ‘safe’ range. Fertility further begins to decrease.Ages 40+, fertility continues to drop significantly every year. The chances of conceiving a child with a serious or chronic disorder or syndrome increases significantly. Potential health risks to the mother also increase significantly. It is not generally recommended to have any children past the age of 45, and to seriously consider the risks over the age of 40.
