Forgive Us Osagyefo – Citizen Ayertey Writes

We are sorry Osagyefo…

The people you left us with, planted a seed of greed, segregation and irresponsibility but killed the Patriotism and Unification you planted! We will surely miss a great leader like you!

The seed they planted has grown roots that tap their nutrients from the abundance of our great nation Ghana!

The seed of greed, irresponsibility and segregation has now become a national culture. It is so deep rooted that even the constitution which is supposed to guide our daily activities as citizens has been replaced by an unpatriotic character of “bite as big as you can and leave it there”, coupled with Pure Partisan Politics; you can call it PPP if you like.

Osagyefo we are sorry for not being responsible enough to take care of state property as we have fearlessly created a slogan for our irresponsibility, “Aban adwuma, yÉ›nfa nsi yabeti, yÉ› tweno fom”.

We are sorry for not being able to train practical engineers, artisans and artists who will make Ghana as beautiful as you planned it (Your wife in mind).

You built practical schools like the Tema Technical Institute, the Takoradi Technical Institute (both TTI), the KNUST and others like the various Agriculture colleges.

Osagyefo forgive us for not being able to expand the various industries you built for us. Talk about, TOR, VALCO, SANYO, Steel Works, GHACEM, CPC, GTP, ATL, JTL and many others.

We are sorry for putting into our curricular that ‘Agriculture is the backbone of the economy’ but we failed to invest in it to make it attractive to the world as truly God has blessed us with an environment that breeds all kinds of foods except a few.

Osagyefo forgive us for Praying instead of Thinking.

We are busily teaching our children to obey (not respect) old age even when we are wrong. We teach them how miraculous God is instead of how to apply knowledge; so our children grew up believing there is a God who will create a ship for me when I fast, pray and believe. Funny right!

Finally, we are sorry for blinding ourselves with ‘PPP’ so much that we must be bias if the truth doesn’t favor our party flag.

We are indeed sorry!!!

Deep down, every Ghanaian is sorry but the culture of greed and irresponsibility is too deep rooted that, its either you fine a MEANS to bite a portion of the national cake or you find a means to bite another nation’s cake.

INDEED WE WILL FOREVER BE SORRY!!!
