Popular writer for the ruling NPP, P.K Sarpong has remarked that Joy FM/JoyNews and TV3 are major contributors to the depreciation of the local currency. He added that they are always engaging in speculations.
In a series of post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, 24th October 2022, he wrote that there is no gainsaying the fact that the local currency is reeling under the pressures coming from speculators, a phenomenon that contributes to the steep decline of the cedi against the dollar.
“Some media houses, for their own tendentious reasons, have decided to pour more fuel into the fire already burning with their negative reportage.Â
Joy FM, JoyNews and TV3 have become agents of this destructive speculative phenomenon. Hardly would one not see these media outlets singing dirges for the cedi and people to chase after the dollar.” PK Sarpong remarked.Â
He alleged that those media houses have been religiously spreading negative propaganda about the cedi, always announcing fake but outrageous figures as the rates of the cedi against the US dollar.
They take delight in making the cedi look awful in the eyes of investors. They appear to have nothing to discuss on their airwaves apart from talking down on the cedi.Â
“We understand that this is part of Joy FM/JoyNews’ regime changing tactics but they forget that the health of the cedi affects not only those in government or NPP members but all Ghanaians, they themselves and their family members.” He added.
P.K Sarpong said that as for TV3, the least said about them, the better. To them, it is all about seeing to the exit of this administration so that their favorite NDC would come and take over. They also tend to forget the critical issue of what an NDC administration could do in a situation like we are experiencing.Â
TV3 is acting like a reserved player, praying for the one on the field to get injured so that he becomes the substitute. They are the true enemies of the state.Â
