A popular social media commentator and activist of the governing New Patriotic Party, Frank Mandela Bawumia has asserted traders are simply misbehaving because some of their outrageous prices have nothing to do with the dollars. He is of the view that it is a shame for traders to do that.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, he wrote;
“Traders are simply misbehaving. Government must set price cap now. Criminally outrageous prices shouldn’t be countenanced. This has nothing to do with the exchange rate. It’s criminal. It’s a shame.”
His comments follows the increase in prices of goods as a result of the depreciating Cedi to the dollar.
Franklin Bawumia cited an example as using galoon of frytol.
He said that it was GHC400 last month. It’s price increased to GHC640 last week. And today some people are selling it for GHC1,050.
Franklin added in another post that traders exhibited their level of depravity during the pandemic by selling at outrageous prices. They are demonstrating the same behavior today. This is callous. This is vicious. This is machiavellian. This is evil.
