Ghana’s U-23 national team, the Black Meteors, have arrived safely in Maputo ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with Mozambique in an African U-23 qualifier.
The Black Meteors, will face their Mozambican counterparts in a first leg qualifier to the finals in Morocco next year.
The game be played at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto, Gazon in the Mozambican capital on Sunday, with Ghana hopeful of a good result to take into the return encounter in Kumasi next weekend.
The Black Meteors, arrived in Mozambique early Friday, and took to the training pitch later in the day to continue with their preparations for the encounter.
The team, will train at the match venue on Saturday afternoon as required by the competition rules to get a feel of the home conditions.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko, took a 22-man squad for the trip, and, the former Ghana international is expected to name a strong lineup for tomorrow’s game as they target a win.
The return encounter will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi next week Sunday as Ghana looks to book a place to the next round of the qualifiers.
The winner of this two-legged affair, will progress to take on the victor of the DR Congo and Algeria tie for a place at the African U-23 championships in Morocco next year.
