Attorney Amaliba has been challenged to apologize unconditionally to Ghanaians for referring to the Ghana cedi as toilet paper by Kamal Deen Abdulai, the New Patriotic Party’s communications officer.
The Ghana cedi has become completely meaningless and cannot be utilized for anything, according to attorney Amaliba, who was speaking today on TV3 New Day. According to him, the cedi has lost so much value that it should only be used as toilet paper. According to him, one cannot even buy water at the current cedi exchange rate.
Kamal Deen Abdulai responded to the comment by urging Amalba to apologize for making it, arguing that even though the cedi is now the worst-performing currency, it is still Ghana’s legal tender and should be treated with respect.
He said to Johnny Hudges that using the cedi, which is legal tender, would be high treason and would have serious repercussions. He claimed that efforts are being made by the government and the economic management team to stabilize the cedi.
