Ken Agyapong Tipped To Win NPP Presidential Primaries

Kennedy Agyapong urges youth to keep hopes alive - The Daily Statesman Newspaper

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is said to be making great strides in his bid to become the Presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections.

Reports suggest, Mr Agyapong has now become the second favourite to lead the NPP after President Akufo-Addo, kicking Alan Kyeremanten, Minister of Trade and Industry, from the ladder.

The possibility of the Assin Central MP causing an upset and emerging victorious in the NPP’s flagbearership race is strongly being discussed among faithfuls of the party

Mr. Agyapong has so far toured 13 regions and more than 85 constituencies, selling his principles of Patriotism, Honesty and Discipline (PHD) message.

Mr Agyapong is also attracting support from different youth groups within the New Patriotic Party.

About a mong ago, a group calling itself the Concerned Supporters of New Patriotic Party rooted for the MP as Ghana and NPP’s rescuer.

A Convenor of the group, Ohemeng Ian Moore, says they are supporting Mr Agyapong because he is the only senior member of the party who cares about the welfare of the grassroots.

“Kennedy Agyapong is a man for the grassroots. We have come to accept the fact that Hon Agyapong’s candidature is the surest bet for the country. We believe he can turn the electoral fortunes of the NPP in 2024 and also turn around the economic fortunes of the country.

“Hon Agyapong has proven to be a staunch disciplinarian who will not hesitate to crack the whip even against members of his own government when given the nod. The above trait is what the country has been missing in her leadership.

“We are working assiduously towards his victory in the primaries and will do same for the presidential election. Whilst calling on our party delegates to vote massively for Hon Kwame Ohene Agyapong, we will like to reiterate our stance that he has no option but to avail himself for the contest.”
