While Ghana Is Begging IMF To Survive, Akufo-Addo’s Convoy Spent 92,587 Cedis On Fuel In Trips

Selorm Branttie, the vice President at IMANI Africa has asserted that the President Akufo-Addo and his convoy spent an estimated GHC 92,587 cedis in just a four days trip whiles Ghana is still begging IMF for loan.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, he wrote; that he just saw a video of Nana Addo’s convoy. 28 Toyota Land Cruisers his customized Lexus LX570 Executive edition which is armored.

“So, the armored cars in his convoy will be about 5, if you reckon that they are the ones immediately before and after his, that’s 2 in front and 2 behind and his.

They will weigh 1.5 tons more than the normal LC200 at 4.8 tones, meaning that fuel consumption will be twice that of the normal LC200 2019 edition which usually is 15mpg combined.

So for the distance from Accra to Kumasi and back and an itinerary of say 200 miles per day for 4 days, let’s calculate the fuel alone:

Total distance covered: 800 miles.

Average car consumption: 15mpg

Total no of gallons per car: 800/15 = 53.3 gallons.

1 liter of diesel = 15.5

1 gallon = 4 liters. So 1 gallon = 62 cedis

Fuel cost per car = 62 x 33.3 = 3306.67 cedis

So for the 28 LC200s = 28 x 3306.67 = 92,587 cedis.

He added that at 0.9 cedis a day, that feeds 100,000 SHS kids in boarding school right now.

This is the leader of a country that is begging IMF to survive and pay its workers. This is at a time when proposals are supposed to be written on how they are supposedly cutting costs for debt sustainability.

The irony is that he used this trip to tell all of you he literally doesn’t think his team has done any wrong and doesn’t care about your views as a voter.
