Presbyterian Boys, Legon had to overcome a tight competition from 2 other schools to emerge victorious and qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz. PRESCE, Legon who were last year’s runners up knew they had to put in their best if they had to qualify and indeed they did just that to emerge as champions of the last contest of the day. Already Kumasi High and St. James Seminary had qualified in the first 2 contest.
PRESEC, Legon won all the rounds of the game. Many thought that at least Accra Academy would have given them a tight competition but this never happened with PRESEC, Legon leading by 11 points even at the first round. The second and third rounds proved to be more difficult for Pojo Bas and Bleoo bi as PRESEC run riots. At the third round which also happened to be the Problem of the Day, PRESEC scored 10 out of 10 while the 2 other schools got 0.
At the end of the day PRESEC, Legon emerged as victors of the contest. Not only did they win, but they also emerged as the school with the highest points for the day as St. James and Kumasi high, winners of the first two competitions failed to get more than 60 points. PRESEC finished the game with a whopping 67 points. Accra Academy got 33 points while Pope John amassed 26 points.
This win means that PRESEC, Legon will take on St James Seminary and Kumasi High School in the second semifinal contest. Tomorrow will feature the last quarter finals pairings and then the semifinals will start. Prempeh College are the defending champions of the contest and PRESEC, Lego will hope to challenged them and reclaim their trophy won in 2020. But can this be possible in Kumasi?
