Toni Kroos, a midfielder for Real Madrid, has expressed his confusion over his team’s failure to win the Ballon d’Or club of the year honor.
Real lost out on the award to Manchester City despite having a fantastic season in which they won the Champions League and LaLiga.
Despite Real Madrid defeating Jurgen Klopp’s team in the Champions League final, Liverpool came in second.
In the competition’s semifinals, Real also defeated City, leaving Kroos unsatisfied with the prize’s conclusion.
Third-best team in 2021–2022, happy Real Madrid?, tweeted Kroos.
City won the Premier League title last season, but they were eliminated in the quarterfinal stages of the Champions League and FA Cup as well as the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool, on the other hand, came in second place in the league and placed second in the Champions League, but they won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
Real won the Supercopa de Espana in addition to the Champions League and LaLiga. They were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the quarterfinals.
Despite not winning the ceremony’s overall prize, Real had many other reasons to celebrate, not the least of which was Karim Benzema’s first-ever Ballon d’Or victory.
Along with Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric, Thibaut Courtois placed in the top ten overall and earned the Yashin award for best goalkeeper.
