Asantes Will Teach Mahama Wisdom In 2024 Elections – NAPO

Matthew Opoku Prempeh - Wikipedia

Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly referred to as NAPO has said that he is happy the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be presenting former President John Mahama as its candidate for the forthcoming elections.

He says the Asantes in the Ashanti region will teach the former president a bitter lesson for disrespecting them.

“I thank God that the NDC did not get any better person than John Mahama. Therefore I have made my mouth ready for John Mahama.

“This is because we have not forgotten when he stood in Kumasi and insulted us. We are going to teach him wisdom. We will teach him to know that his words must be clean”, he said.

Dr Opoku Prempeh made these remarks while addressing the gathering at the Sod Cutting Ceremony ongoing in Kumasi by President Akufo Addo on his four days tour in the Ashanti Region.

He continued “When John Mahama insulted Asantes, I didn’t hear any media person condemning it on radio. Some even said they never heard it. But immediately Nana Addo says something, they will take it up against him, and criticize him”.

“I want to tell you that if you want a government that can develop Asante, then it is the NPP government, nothing else”, he added.

Dr Opoku Prempeh made the statements in reference to an audio which went viral prior to the 2016 elections, where a voiced purported to be that of the former president was heard saying that Asantes have short memory and that even if he tar their roads with gold they will still say he has not done anything for them.

However, the said audio was later proven to be doctored after the original was produced to debunk the propaganda perpetuated to court disaffection of the Asantes against Mr Mahama, who was then the President.
