The Vice President of IMANI Africa Selorm Branttie has asserted that government should rather help the private businesses to grow and flourish instead of praise sing programs like NABCO and YEA.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 19th October 2022, he wrote;
“Until we understand that we have to allow private businesses to flourish and create jobs instead of paying people to praise programs like NABCO, PFJ, Yea, MaSLOC, etc, we will be back here in 5 years.”
We cannot have government “creating” jobs that don’t exist on paper to spoon cash to compete in elections and not expect the economy not to suffer. He remarked.
Selorm explained that, our economy was like that athlete that juices up on steroids and doping additives to win two Olympic races and become world champion. The day they are asked to run on their own, they realize they can’t even make the qualifiers because all the time, it was the steroids (loans) that was showing the performance. It was all artificial.
Instead of keeping the money home or turning the loan monies into the economy, they rather sent it all and hoarded it somewhere to buy assets to create their personal dynasties.
He said that the way things are going, government should liquidate them and pump into the local economy, else at this rate one early morning people will be streaming into their houses to shake them and the rest of us will just watch them with our hands folded.
“Just the same way they sit in their long convoys and insult us and call us Jeremiahs. If they don’t focus, they will see pepper soon.”
