President Akufo-Addo has sent the clearest indication to his critics and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of his ruling New PatriotIc Party (NPP) preparedness to become the first political tradition to win three consecutive elections in Ghana.
He says the ruling NPP will win the forthcoming presidential elections in 2024 to retain power for another four years, reenergizing the base of his party by re-echoing their now famous mantra “breaking the 8”.
He adds that the impending victory for the NPP will shock the NDC and its allies who are of the mistaken belief that Ghanaians will vote them out due to the current challenges facing the country.
“They think we can’t break the 8. 3be y3 Omo s3 cini. We will break it”, he said at the launch of the NPP membership registration drive in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
He added that the NPP remains the party of choice for Ghanaians as they have demonstrated over the years that a clear competence on governance and salvaging the country from crisis situations.
“It is only the NPP that is able to lift the country out of crisis whenever it is confronted with one. When Kufour became President, the country was in HIPC status. Through his goof policies, we emerged out of it and our finances were better
“When we came to power in 2017, we were under an IMF programme but because of good policies, we excited it and placed the country on the path of progress. Everything was going on well until covid struck. Naysayers thought we couldn’t manage it but with courage we did it well
“It is only the NPP that can solve the latest problems which is the global economic crisis which has messed up our finances”, he said.
The president used the occasion to urge Ghanaians to register and become members of the NPP to shore up its numbers for the elections in 2024.
“I’m saying to you today, join the NPP. If you are not part, come and join to make us more. But the problems we have in Ghana today, we will solve these problems and put our economy back on strong wings. There is no party which can solve it beside the NPP. We will do it. We will do it for it to shock them
