Ghana is currently negotiating a deal with the International Monetary Fund for financial bail out. The economy of Ghana for many months now has been hit with crises as government communicators struggle to explain what is happening. Their only reasons are claims that exogenous factors are the causes of Ghana’s financial failings. Indeed, they even go to the extent of saying the erstwhile John Mahama government also provide long term reasons for Ghana’s economic crises.
On Good Morning Ghana, Edudzi Tamakloe, a member of the NDC Legal team has bemoaned the rate at which the cedi is depreciating against the dollar. According to him this is getting scary and something needs to be done immediately the salvage what is left. According to Mr. Tamakloe it is annoying that while Ghanaians are suffering and calling for help Dr. Bawumia is in the North campaigning.
Annie Ampofo, the host tried to interject and say there is nothing to show the Vice President is campaigning. Edudzi Tamakloe however insisted that with his caliber as a lawyer he wouldn’t lie and insisted that Bawumia is campaigning while Ghanaians suffer. He called on his fellow panelist Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama to tell his boss to come back and apologize to Ghanaians for misleading them to vote for the NPP.
Edudzi Tamakloe explained that Bawumia lied to Ghanaians that he can transform the economy but has rather been transformed by the economy. Dr. Mahama, the Technical Advisor to the Office of the Vice President. Dr. Mahama didn’t take lightly to these comments of Bawumia lying and insisted that Bawumia made certain comments based on what he saw at that time. He explained that Bawumia never compared the currency of Ghana to neighboring countries but rather compared the economies.
Dr. Mahama insisted that Bawumia and Akufo-Addo have nothing to apologize about because they are the best thing that happened to the country. He called on the NDC to stop the propaganda and join hands to build the country. As Ghanaians bemoan the economic crises the country is faced with, the president has reassured the country that he is aware and is working.
