A 36-year-old man named Kofi Agyei recounted how he was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment for a crime he did not commit 20 years ago. According to the man, he lived in Santasi with his mother Ama Antwiwa for many years before moving to Krofrom. He started working as a cobbler every morning before going to work because his single mother faced difficulties.

They sometimes went to bed on an empty stomach, and at the age of 14, no family members visited him. Kofi said he gets up early in the morning to start repairing shoes for others, and his school uniform too will be in his bag, so he leaves work at 8:30, get dressed up and go school. Two years later, he went to work as usual and left but a woman call to repair her footwear but she left luggage where he was sitting to go to the bathroom.

While working on the client’s footwear, another lady sitting next to the him took the bag beside her and left with it. When the woman returned, she began looking for her bag, which she said contained Ghc8,000 as well as Ghc50,000 in a big sack bag. Kofi revealed to her that the lady who was sitting next to her had taken it, but the client did not believe him and started calling him a thief in the market.

Kofi claims he became a cell leader in this prison and after spending 18 years in prison, he began to pray to God for two whole years to help him and get released from prison.

An unidentified man paid Gh30,000 refund and even adding his own transport for him to get released one Saturday morning and his name was mentioned in the parade. Fortunately, he was released from prison, but due to the drastic changes in the market, he failed to identify the kejetia market.
