CHASS Sends A Strong Warning To GES On Free Senior High Semester System

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has sent a strong signal to the Ghana Education Service (GES) on the need for senior high schools to be sent back to Trimester System by 2023.

Speaking at a conference in the Eastern Region, Koforidua, on Saturday 15th October, 2022, the assistant general secretary to the Easter Regional CHASS branch made it clear that teachers in the free senior high schools are suffering due to the semester system runned by the schools.

He added that government must as a matter of urgency take the necessary strides to return the senior high schools back to the trimester system so as to ease the stress on the teachers. He further explained that such teachers do not receive any incentives to augment their meager salary but are expected to teach through out the year without break. This is causing emotional trauma and family mismanagement to most staffs since they do not get enough time to spend with their families.

This therefore prompt the Eastern Regional CHASS branch in collaboration with the other regions to call on the Ghana Education Service to take the needed measures as soon as possible in other to avoid further challenges from the schools.

Most teachers due to the stress could not deliver very well for the children to understand which is very worrying and may jeopardize the integrity of education in the near future.
