His new statement on Facebook saying:
I shared this here for the exact point you have made. Our speculations form a major part of our cedi woes. I have seen people jump to this same google rate to share widely when they feel that figure is higher.
Then in a situation like this where the google rate is lesser than what the black market is trading we don’t want to accept it.Â
Surely, our cedi isn’t doing well at the moment but speculation is killing it. I saw people share 12cedis all over the place yesterday but it wasn’t 12cedis even on the black market yesterday. Unfortunately, that kind of speculation is going to push it to 12 and even beyond.
But as you rightly put it, it’s all at the doorsteps of BOG as I have always been saying. Our regulations around forex exchange are a sadness.
