Sammy Gyamfi yesterday was ordered by an Accra High Court to apologize and retract certain statements he made about Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the minister of Energy and MP for Manhyia South. A hefty fine was also placed on Sammy neck as damages for defaming the Minister. The NDC Communications Officer has spoken after the decision was taken against him. In a bold statement on Facebook he has noted that the struggle is not over and he will continue with his fight with an appeal.
On Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere questioned why Sammy Gyamfi will go to court without tangible evidence. He explained that it was a wild guess for Sammy Gyamfi to use the word ‘errand’. He noted that the word errand boy cannot be explained or proven in court. According to Paul there are various positions like bodyguard, driver and these are verifiable but the word errand boy is ambiguous and cannot be explained in court.
Paul mentioned that Ghana has one major problem where intellectual debates have been abandoned and replaced with propaganda. He noted that instead of wild allegations Ghanaians need to start making constructive debates and adduce evidence rather than accusing falsely. Paul insisted that Sammy only went to court with allegations and had no proof because the word errand boy cannot be proven in court.
“My concern though is saying that this guy is said to be an errand boy of NAPO, how do you establish that? What is the basis to establish that somebody is another’s errand boy in court? Sammy is a lawyer called to the bar. This is the problem we have in the country. Let’s focus the debate on the intellectual, the evidence, the narrative. You say a criminal is an errand boy for someone? You may be right but how do you prove it” Paul questioned.
Sammy called on the opposition NDC to come out with constructive arguments and intellectual debates to counter government and not to rather spew unfounded allegations and wild guesses just to stain the government.
