Teacher Unions Calls on Minister of Education over NTC CPD Points

The Ghana National Association of Teachers in a conference today, 08th October, 2022 at University for Development Studies Hall calls on the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum over Continues Professional Development points for teachers across the country.

The Greater Accra Regional GNAT secretary told the minister that the various teacher unions have noticed that the National Teaching Council which proposed a Continuous Professional Development Points for the teachers to use to renew their licenses have turn out to a different direction.

He added that the points have been sold out to the teachers which should not have been the case. Four points goes for GH¢70.00 and for a senior sup II professional to be able to renew his license he needs 70 points which means that at the end of the day he/she will be paying about GH¢1,245 and this applied to the other ranks as they have varied points at the various ranks.

We are therefore calling on the ministry of education to intervene in this matter before the worst is done. The NTC must not use the teachers as money making tools in the name of CPD Points. Based on this the unions are sending a pungent signal to the National Teaching Council to encumber and alter their process in other to have a successful plan achieved.
