The Time To Act Is Now-BOT Sends Strong Word Of Advice To Volta And Oti Chiefs On Govt Mining Intent

Mining of gold in Ghana has become a blessing and a curse and it seems nothing can be done to assuage the negative impact of the menace. All talk and no action by politicians have exacerbated the situation.

Sadly, the two regions:Volta and Oti regions which have been unaffected by illegal mining will probably face the same problems of water pollution and land degradation in the coming days with the government’s intention to commence mining in these areas.

The above sentiment was made known by Bright Oduro Takyi also known as BOT, a politician belonging to the National Democratic Congress Party and a certified chartered economist. The gentleman made this assertion on the popular morning show “ABRANAA SO” on TV XYZ.

Sharing his opinion on the topic of the day, BOT boldly revealed to the host Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah that the minister of Land and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor has indicated mining in the two regions mentioned above and if the chiefs don’t resist, disaster awaits them.

The politician called on all the chiefs most especially the venerable Agbogbomefia of Asogli State Togbe Afede who he referred to as a “disciplinarian” to stop the government.

The time to act is now. I call on Volta and Oti chiefs to rise and prevent these people from destroying their lands with galamsey activities,” he strongly advised.
