Johnnie Hughes Causes Stir By Serving Notice To Presidency : I Am Making This Special Request To You

TV3 Ghana’s Johnnie Hughes has vented his spleen on his editorial dubbed “Johnnie’s Bite”. As to whether, Johnnie has bitten more than he can chew or less than he can handle is another analysis for a different day.

In his editorial on Friday, 7th October 2022, Johnnie Hughes sent notices to the Presidency and the government to apologize to the good people of Ghana for some promises that the government could not fulfil.

Readers can recall that Nana Addo’s government and Ken Ofori Atta had kept the hopes of the people about the competencies of the government.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta can be remembered to have assured that Ghana will not go to the International Monetary Fund and they have found home-grown solutions to raise revenue internally.

By promising the citizenry of the lack of appetite to increase borrowing, Ken Ofori Atta and the government managed to pass the E-levy into law.

” You made promises that you would not go to IMF and used that to pass that obnoxious E-levy into law. See how you have borrowed to the tune of GHS402billion for only 2022″.

” Despite all the promises, nobody has apologised for taking us to the IMF. You seem to have taken us for granted”.

“We are in the ditch and the Bank of Ghana said you borrowed this much by July 2022?”

According to TV3’s Johnnie Hughes, the good people of Ghana were surprised that the government did a U-Turn after their promises and have now turned towards the IMF.

He asked the President why his communicators did not bother to send an apology letter to Ghanaians for “putting dust into the eyes” of the citizenry.

Johnnie Hughes did not mince words as he described the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah and all the other officials who trusted in their abilities as “arrogant and boastful”

The comments of Johnnie Hughes has attracted massive amount of reactions.
