Aside the economic challenges slapping the country hard on the cheeks, the sudden surge in the practice of illegal mining has also popped up which has now become a nation conquer. Many executives and local leaders have spoke in relation with the above and measures have been put in place to to bring things back to normal for which one of the measures was to halt the operation of some mines like the Akonta mines owned by Chairman Wontumi.
It is obvious that, the owners of these mines are government officials and local rulers for they know the whereabouts of these miners as said by the overlord of t ur Asante Kingdom in his speech some days ago.
Sighted in a post on twitter is a photo shared by a media channel with regards to the practice of illegal mining in the country. In the photo is a sample of nine prominent water bodies across the country indicating their current state as a result of the practice of illegal mining. It is really an eyesore seeing the current state of these water bodies which serves a great purpose to the people staying around it.
