Faiza Tabzara, a 31-year-old woman from Tikrom in Kumasi shares why she used to beg her neighbors for food after she fell sick months ago. The lady said her baby daddy was involved in a terrible accident and died years back. She travel to Kumasi to live with her mother and began to trade in the market to feed herself and her 12 year old son.
One day she went to the market early in the morning as usual, but she passed out in the process of selling her goods. Faiza said she regained consciousness after two young men took her to the hospital when the incident happened. She called her mother and told her what had happened to her.
The mother visited her once in the hospital and she he was discharged four days later. Even the money she had was not enough to pay the bills but her mother didn’t make any attempt support her in paying the bills. The lady went on saying that she recovered and went back to business.
But after a week of doing business and trying to regain the money she spent at the hospital, her body become weak and always feels dizziness. She stopped going to the market to sell but got employed as a public toilet attendant in her community.
She did this work for a couple of months but her legs constantly swollen when she stays at one place for longer period, this condition made her stop that work too and found it difficult to earn a living. Although her mother is still alive, but she says she abandoned her and will always feed her pets more than she and her only son needs.
‘My body was paralyzed and I got to the point where I couldn’t gain weight, My son and I have to beg for neighbors for food before we get something to eats due to my situation’ Faiza says. One day, her son helped her attend prayers at a nearby church.
When she returned home, she found that her mother had packed all her belongings and left the house without telling her anything. She tries to call her to find out where her mother is but her phone was switched off. The lady said she doesn’t receive any support from her family members which has made life seems difficult for her. Faiza is requesting for funds she needed to treat her illness and also care for her only son
