The founder of Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, who is also the former deputy general secretary of the NDC, has sent some messages to the Ghanaian public.
In his recent post on Twitter, Samuel Koku Anyidoho revealed that it is time for Ghanaians to pray for their currency. He added that no matter how “horrible the cedi gets, that is what we need to survive”. He is therefore urging the general public to come together and pray for the cedi. He believes that the cedi will be stabilised if prayers are said.Â
This is not the first time Samuel Koku Anyidoho is asking Ghanaians to pray for the cedi. He recently urged Ghanaians to pray for the country. Following such request, several members of the opposition party, slammed Koku Anyidoho for telling Ghanaians to pray for this NPP administration. They believe that Samuel Koku Anyidoho failed to tell Ghanaians to pray for the nation when the NDC was in power.
It is believed that Samuel Koku Anyidoho is in loggerheads with the NDC. It all started when Koku Anyidoho asked President Akufo Addo to build the Asomdwee Park. After the reconstruction of the place, many members of the NDC saw that Koku Anyidoho now belongs to the NPP since his words and actions were seen to be in favour of the NPP.
The cedi is currently in its worst state since the beginning of the fourth republic. Currently, the exchange rate between the cedi and the dollar is over 10 cedis($1: ¢10 or more). Government officials have accepted the fact the cedi is performing at it worst rate in the fourth republic. However, such blame can’t be put on them but must be put on the outbreak of covid-19 and also the war between Russia and Ukraine. Members of the NDC believe that it is a result of mismanagement that has brought the country into this state.
